2003 South Underclass Showcase
Cheesebrough is a small catcher that can do it all. He can catch and throw with the best of the 2005 catchers showing good footwork and a nice quick release. He popped a 1.93 at 77 mph. And he did that more than once! He routinely kept runners on base and if they attempted to steal, he threw them out. He showed good receiving and very tough blocking ability and the only thing he didn't show at a high level was his 7.56 time in the 60 which is actually playable for a 5 foot 7 powerful catcher. With the bat he displayed a little power. He showed one of the best swings in the showcase too. His mechanics are smooth, his hands were quiet, his bat-speed was fast and he emitted a confidence by staying balanced, staying back and not even indicating he was going to swing until a strike was thrown. When it was, he drove it hard somewhere. He demonstrated some good qualities that will play in Division 1 baseball with the glove and especially the bat.
