McCabe is a right-hander with a good sized body and easy working arm. At 6 foot 5 and 220 pounds we were hoping for slightly more velocity but he pitched well and mixed 3 good pitches for strikes. His fastball was 80-83 and lacked life but was never down the middle of the plate. His curve worked well at 68-69 mph consistently and he also threw a splitty at 74 mph that he used ahead in the count successfully. His command of 3 pitches was not hard to believe since his release point was about identical on every pitch. He has good mechanics and an overall good looking package, only lacking the arm speed that will get his velocity up in the high 80's. We will not be surprised when he throws that hard in the near future. Good student.
