2004 Western Underclass Showcase
Kyle is a 2006 grad from Morgan Hill, California with a with a top notch baseball body that combines present strength and projectability. Kyle lists himself as a primary pitcher but the way he hit at this showcase we're not going to say he isn't just as good an outfield prospect. Kyle drove the ball hard to all fields with an aggressive swing that showed impressive bat speed and some real juice. He swung better in live game action than in BP, which is always good to see. Defensively, he runs well for a big player and will profile very well in right field. On the mound, Kyle has a quick tempo delivery and generates good torque with his upper body through release. His fastball topped out at 86 mph and showed good life at times. Kyle's curveball was a little soft at 67 mph and he also threw a 71 mph change up. We think Kyle is a definite DI type of prospect both ways. He is also an outstanding student with a 4.0 GPA.
