2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Walicki is a 6-1 junior left handed pitcher from Florida with a medium athletic frame. He throws from a high ¾’s release point with a quick loose arm.Walicki showed the ability to work down and away to hitters during his 3 innings of work and struck out 7 out of 10 hitters. His fastball was 79-80 mph but his strike out pitch was a very sharp curveball that he varied in velocity between 67 and 73 mph. Walicki also showed a 72 mph change up. Walicki is very young for a junior and should have plenty of chance to gain velocity and strength over the next few years. Walicki also hit better than the average pitcher. He has some strength in his hands and generates some bat speed with wood. He also has some lift in his swing and hit a couple balls deep into the alleys during batting practice. Walicki is also a good student.
