You like to see projectable young bodies on catchers with some skills and that’s what we see in Gelbrich. He’s a slender 6-2, 180 lbs and has the frame to add plenty of strength. He has good quickness behind the plate, moving well to both sides and shows a controlled but quick release on his throws. Gelbrich was in the 1.9s on his pop times to second base with above average accuracy and arm strength that can be projected to improve. The same type of projection applies to Gelbrich’s bat. He had some length to his swing but made consistent contact. When he gets stronger, the balls he flairs to right field become shots in the gap. We had a lot of college coaches ask us our thoughts on Gelbrich right after the event, which is a good sign. Logan is an athletic catcher and could easily jump up the charts by next June. There's no doubt that he is a highest level college prospect. He is an excellent student.
