Mark Bellatti is a 2008 1B/LHP/OF from Steele Canyon High School in La Mesa, CA, with a 5'10", 155 lb. frame. Bellatti was one of the youngest players at the event, but was still named to the top prospect team. He can flat out hit. At the plate he has plus bat speed with a short stride and little wasted motion. Bellatti uses a line drive swing plane with quiet hands and an advanced approach to hitting. He is limited with his power at this time, but he centers the ball well and will increase his power as he continues to mature physically. Defensively he has very good footwork around the first base bag with good hands. Bellatti stays low when fielding the ball and stayed in well on throws in the dirt. He also toed the rubber for one inning topping out at 70 mph while mixing in a 59 mph breaking ball and a 65 mph change up. Bellatti has the hitting tools to be very good in 2-3 years, and he needs to be followed closely. He is also an outstanding student.
