Matt Slaton is a 6'2" 215 pound first baseman and outfielder who attends Leland High School in San Jose, California. He is a strong physical first baseman with the ability to drive the ball. He ran the 60 in 7.91 and touched 75 mph from the outfield. Matt shows an average base and slight weight transfer towards contact. He centers the ball well with present raw power. Slaton should be a good middle of the line up bat. He showed some arm strength on the mound as well, touching 85 mph with a 74 breaking ball. Matt has a compact arm action and has an idea how to pitch. His breaking ball is workable with good late depth. Slaton has good arm speed and good balance with an even tempo. He is also a good student and should have a chance to play at another level.
