2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Mike Hancock is a 2005 corner infielder from Round Rock, TX, with good present strength and a nice approach at the plate. Defensively, he’ll probably have to focus on first base at the next level, but he has the bat to do that. He shows athletic ability, good instincts and even runs OK. He has adequate arm strength, but probably not quite highest level 3B arm strength yet. Hancock hits from a tall stance and maintains good balance and leverage in his swing. He’s a patient hitter who is looking for a pitch he can drive to the middle of the field. Hancock showed us his raw power when he launched one off the centerfield fence during game action and he also took a strong batting practice. He could get shorter to the ball, but this is a good wood bat swing with strength and bat speed to it. Mike is a good student.
