LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2003 National Showcase
Hanks was unable to attend the workout portion of the PG National Showcase but showed enough during two days of games and a short BP for us to know that he’ll be among the top catchers in the Class of 2004. Hanks is extra strong at 6-1, 215 lbs with a linebacker’s arms and shoulders. He generates above average bat speed and pulls the ball with authority. Hanks strength and approach at the plate is similar to another top 2004 catcher, Alex Garabedian. Hanks’ offense is ahead of his defense at this point. He has plenty of athleticism to excel at the position and his arm strength will grade out at big league average when he becomes more directional towards second base. Hanks is a true catcher with a present day big league catchers body. We love the way he plays the game. He could go early next June or he might end up at a college power. Parker is an excellent student.
