Jamie Smith is a 2013 RHP/C with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from New Orleans, LA who attends Newman HS. Long athletic build. Pitches exclusively from the stretch, hides the ball well, deceptive delivery. Arm works well, short arm action, 11-5 curveball at 75 with good spin, 78 mph changeup. Arm plays well behind the plate, posted impressive 1.90 pop time in workout with 78 mph velocity, low exchange, gains ground well with quick transfer. Strong right handed hitter, solid from the left side as well. Quick hands, good bat speed, calm simple approach from right side, less consistent and a bit longer from the left side but still a good lefty hitter. Does just about everything on the diamond well. Very good student.
