2003 South Underclass Showcase
Colvin is a very projectable middle infielder with good looking fluid actions and a good frame for future potential. He lacked the top-end speed in the 60 posting a 7.64 but got a good jump and reached the halfway mark quickly before slowing near the end. He showed good feet at second base and threw 79 mph across the infield which easily projects into the 80's. He made all the plays and appeared that he has the ability to play second base at the next level. With the bat he used a closed stance with a slight crouch and slashed at the ball hitting down on it. His bat-speed should come as he strengthens and from what we saw in batting practice he can drive the ball fairly well already. A lot of Colvins game is based on projection and we think he has the chance to make large strides over the next year. We look forward to watching his progress.
