2004 Indoor Pitchers/Catchers Showcase
Shaun Seibert: Seibert is a 6-0 senior right handed pitcher from Illinois who threw very, very well at the Indoor Showcase. He has a well proportioned frame with good strength in his lower half. Seibert throws from a deliberate, balanced delivery with a short, extremely quick arm stroke and a mid-3/4’s release point. Seibert gives the impression that he’s in control at all times on the mound and his command is a big plus for him. Seibert threw both 2-seam and 4-seam fastballs in the 89-91 mph range (lots of 90-91s) and created good running and sinking action on his 2-seamers. Seibert’s breaking ball is a 74-76 mph slider that has good bite to it and he also threw a good change up around 80 mph. He could go either or both ways on his breaking ball; speeding and tightening it up to a true slider or growing the break into deceptive curveball. This young man has a minimum of three quality pitches, very good command and a good idea on how to use his stuff. He should be very successful right away at either the college or professional level. Shaun has committed to the U of Arkansas and he is an excellent student.
