Michael Martinez is a 2014 1B/LHP with a 6-4 255 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Rock Academy. Martinez has a large frame with a thick build. He has solid actions at 1B with good feet around the bag. At the plate, Martinez swings from a wide base and uses a no stride approach. He generates good bat speed and has some juice and power potential. He looks to pull and looks to lift. Martinez pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long loose arm action and some arm speed. He uses tall and fall mechanics with a short stride. His arm works well and he throws a slow 1/7 curveball. His velocity projects if he makes the proper lower half adjustments. Has some tools and could develop well. Good student.
