2003 South Underclass Showcase
Grondin is a switch hitting middle infielder with a strong arm and some quickness at his position. He did not post a blazing time in the 60 but showed that he can move laterally and fill the hole at the shortstop position. He threw with 79 mph velocity across the infield and showed even more arm strength on the mound. At 5 foot 6 he might be short, but he's not small. His 165 pound frame is strong enough to swing the bat with good bat-speed and some pull power. He gets around the baseball at times but has good tools and actions to work with in the next 2 years. On the hill he was 80-83 mph with good movement and a selection of pitches. He showed a slider in the low 70's, a curve in the upper 60's and a 62-65 mph change-up. The slider was sharp! He is a very versatile player. Only a 2006 sophomore with baseball talent and a good student too !
