2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Zach Scott is a 6'1", 2005 SS/P from Garland, TX, with a projectable, athletic body. He showed us good actions on defense, with good arm strength from a low release point and some good agility and body control. Improved speed and quickness will help Scott defensively, but he has the skills to play at the next level. Offensively, Scott is a front foot hitter who gets out on his front side very early. He has good hand strength, though, and showed the ability to keep them back and drive through the ball against live pitching. Scott hit well in batting practice and had a couple of nice game hits, so the approach seems to work for him. Scott also pitched a couple of innings, showing some arm strength. He pitched between 81 and 83 mph while retiring six straight hitters, three on strikeouts. Seems to be a smart player. Zach is a good student.
