Trent Johnson is a 2015 RHP/1B with a 6-4 235 lb. frame from East Peoria, IL who attends Metamora HS. Big thick strong build. Leg raise delivery, stays over rubber well, pretty low effort release for a power pitcher, 3/4's arm slot, tends to fall off at release and cut off extension. Steady upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, mostly straight but gets on hitters quickly, pitches aggressively with fastball and fills up the strike zone. Change showed potential with full arm speed and 76 mph velocity, tended to slow arm at times. Soft curveball spin, lowers slot on curveball and gets under, may have a slider future. Big arm and body, easy to see as a low 90's power pitcher in a year or two. Development of off speed will be key. Good student, verbal commitment to Arizona.
