Jake Grubbs is a 2016 C/1B/RHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Nokomis, FL who attends Venice HS. Strong athletic build. Straight stance with a calm load, rotational upper half swing, inside swing path but stays on top of the ball well, has some strength at contact and the ball comes off the barrel well, mid to opposite field swing approach and contact. Receives the ball well behind the plate, quick transfer and release, gains ground will with his footwork, playable arm strength, 1.97 best drill pop, 2.08 between innings, 2.19 in games. Also pitched, high 3/4's arm slow, low effort delivery, stays tall through release and works downhill. Fastball topped out at 82 mph with some arm side run, soft curveball, threw strikes and was effective. Good student.
