2005 Sunshine East Showcase
Allende is a 5-9, 145 lb senior shortstop from Miami with very good overall quickness. He runs the 60 in a good 6.98 but is more of a first step runner than a peak speed runner. Allende showed good arm strength from shortstop at 82 mph and has the kind of body control and balance you are looking for in a middle infielder. His arm and defense play at the next level. Allende also has quick hands with the bat. He hits from a high hand start and is a bit long to the ball but makes up for that with quickness. He has good balance in the batter's box and is able to pull the ball with wood. Allende will need to add more strength to drive the ball but is a solid hitter right now when he stays within himself. Allende also pitched a bit at the showcase, touching 82 mph with his fastball and getting some arm side running action. He also throws a 71 mph curveball and 76 mph change up and did a good job throwing strikes.
