Jaelin Sewell is a 2017 1B/LHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Decatur, GA who attends Tucker HS. Large frame with long long limbs and a medium, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary first baseman with smooth paced footwork while surrounding the baseball from a slightly deeper position. Clean glove actions while funneling baseball and working through exchanges. Full arm circle back at separation and showed good arm strength across the infield producing accurate, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a wide, spread stance and large leg lift trigger. Loose, extended path through extension with present strength at contact. Created hard, line drive contact with some carry to the pull side gap when turning barrel aggressively to baseball. Also pitched showing a short rock step to high leg kick delivery. Gathers well at balance point and stays tall on back side. Works with good rhythm and tempo while driving to the plate and carrying momentum through finish. Hides the baseball well and created some deception from a extended, low three-quarters arm slot. Fastball had good life through the zone with good arm side run and sinking action, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball showed 3/8 shape with good depth and solid sweep to glove side. Good feel for the curveball and consistently pounded the offering. Also flashed a changeup with fading life and occasional late side. Flashed the ability to command the edges of the plate when repeating arm action and release point. Good student. Named to the 2017 World Uncommitted Top Prospect List.
