Ryan Knernschield is a 2016 C/RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from St. Louis, MO who attends St John Vianney HS. He combines a solid present build with a projectable frame for future growth and size. At bat, he sets up with a slightly crouched stance and a lower hand set; then loads with a leg lift trigger and quiet upper body. He has good bat speed with some power behind the swing. Up the middle/opposite-field approach; looks to drive the baseball back through the middle and into the RCF gap. Behind the plate, he employs an athletic crouch position with good lower half strength and agility. Compact catch and throw mechanics allow his strong arm to play up, as he showed pop times in the 2.0-2.1 second range. Quality catch-and-throw potential with good offensive projection. Very good student.
