2013 Sunshine West Showcase
Tanner Gilmore is a 2015 1B/3B with a 6-3 225 lb. frame from LaVerne, CA who attends Bonita. XL frame, tall, large build, thick and strong. Didn't even list himself as a pitcher prior to the showcase, but when an inning became available he volunteered and turned out to be a nice surprise. Two-way ability right now, and may even have a brighter future on the mound. While he lacks polish, he sat comfotably in the 84-86 mph range with his fastball from a three quarter arm slot, good downhill plane, fastball showed solid tailing action to the arm side and he spun his 74 mph 11-5 curveball well. Has a lot of refinement but there appears to be a lot of potential as a pitcher. Power bat is present calling card, strong swing with good power to the pullside with an uppercut swing plane. Uses strong lower half in his swing, strong hands and forearms to drive the baseball and create backspin when he squares it up. Big target for infielders at 1B, long arm action, sure handed fielder. Good student.
