Drake Benner is a 2017 OF/3B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends Sage Creek. Large frame with athletic build and good strength throughout to go along with high projection. Ran 60 yard dash in 6.90 seconds. Hits from wider spread stance with good balance, lifts leg into pronated trigger, big rotation in upper body during swing, shows best contact to pull field. Clean hand path with loft in swing, shows ability to hit the ball into the air with authority and projects for more power with additional physical development. Worked out defensively both in the infield and outfield. Shows solid footwork to the ball in the IF, fields well from underneath and stays balanced through crow hop, IF velocity up to 80 MPH across the diamond. Moves to the ball well and fields cleanly with momentum in the OF, quick transfer with good release out of hand, OF velocity up to 81 MPH. Very good student.
