Tyler Baum is a 2016 RHP/OF with a 6-2, 170 lb. frame from Ocoee, FL who attends West Orange HS. Long and slender athletic build, middle infielder's build, some projection but will always be slender. Long arm action with a hook in back, high 3/4's arm slot, some energy at release, arm is loose and very fast, stays balanced well and repeats his mechanics. Fastball topped out at 92 mph, gets nice two-seam action at lower velocities, has angle and creates ground balls working low in the zone. Power curveball flashes outstanding spin and depth at times, swing and miss pitch with biting action. Nice feel for his change up, has ideal arm speed and nice fading action. Three very good present pitches and the ability to throw strikes. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to North Carolina.
