Trey Akins is a 2015 SS/3B with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Vestavia Hills, AL who attends Vestavia Hills HS. Compact athletic build, has good present strength especially in the upper half. Right handed hitter, balanced square stance, short quick swing from a high hand approach, aggressive hitter who swings hard, has some bat speed, presently swings down to the ball, can improve swing plane for more consistent square contact, has the hitting tools to keep improving with adjustments. Sound defensive actions, stays balanced and works through the ball, good hands, throws carry well, will have to continue to work on foot quickness and speed to stay in the middle infield, 7.47 runner. Excellent student.
