Christopher "CJ" Calero is a 2018 C/RHP, 1B, OF with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Gulliver Schools. Large frame with excellent present build and physicality. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.60 seconds. High hands and back elbow when set to hit, line drive swing plane with leverage out front, has good bat speed with strength off the barrel, flashed ability to drive the baseball deep to the pull field. Projects well with the bat overall. Good flexibility and bounce behind the plate, transfers cleanly while gaining ground forward, showed solid arm strength with accuracy down to 2nd base. Solid footwork at 1st base, makes pivot cleanly and shows good arm strength, clocked up to 81 MPH. Also worked in OF, actions are solid with good fundamentals, fields cleanly and works through the ball, clocked up to 83 MPH with good arm speed. Pitched as well, compact arm stroke to three quarters slot, lands online well, fastball worked 78-81 MPH with some arm side life to both sides of the plate. Showed changeup with straighter action and good velocity differential. Very good student, named to 2017 National Underclass East Top Prospect List.
