Michael Carter is a 6' 175 pound 2007 left handed pitcher and first baseman from Houston County High School in Columbia, Alabama with a medium build. Michael is a crafty lefty who throws from a 3/4 arm slot. He pitches to contact and likes to work the inside corner to both right and left handed hitters. His fastball at 77 mph has good late run on it. He gets a lot of ground balls with his fastball. His change up is a very good pitch for him as well at 60 mph. It has very late sink on it which fades away from right handers. He likes to throws his curveball backdoor to right handers at 65 mph. He uses this pitch mainly as a strike out pitch. He throws all three of these pitches with good command. Carter has a short quick swing and a quiet approach at the plate. He hits with low hands that are very quick. He centers the ball very well and sprays the ball to all fields. He makes consistent line drive contact and is good looking young hitter. Michael is also a good student with a 3.68 gpa and a 23 on his ACT.
