Bryce Pongs is a 2016 OF/RHP, 1B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Corona, CA who attends Corona. Large, muscular build with quality athleticism throughout as well. Hits from closed stance with a linear swing plane, swings hard and tries to damage the ball, will pull off a bit at times, shows ability to hit the ball hard with good bat speed and hands. Above-average arm strength in the outfield, topping at 86 MPH. Moves to ball well, fields cleanly, then gathers smoothly and fires accurately into the infield. Moved well at 1B, showed comfort around the bag, charged well. Pitched as well, employing a balanced delivery with a little bit of deceptive funk. Throws from a high 3/4 slot, gets downhill well with good plane. FB sat 81-84 with good arm side run, quality pitchability throughout. Mixes and matches with two quality offspeed pitches, showing a 12/6 CB with good depth and tight break; also a CH with good deception and arm speed. Good student.
