Bryce Barber is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Prospect, KY who attends North Oldham. Medium frame with a compact, strong build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.20 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder, fields baseball from a deeper position while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove exchanges while funneling baseball and working through exchange. Creates a long arm cirlce back at separation and releases with a high energy, uphill arm action. Shows some arm strength with good carry to the bag topping at 82 mph. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Lower half has linear actions creating good shift into contact. Repeats a simple, direct line drive swing plane well. Uses whole body well while working to baseball generating solid bat speed through extension. Consistently squared up contact producing good jump off the barrel to the gaps. Primarily used a mid-field approach but shows the hand and barrel skills to use all fields. Also pitched showing a short rock step to waist high leg lift. Gathers well at balance point and drive to place with smooth paced actions. Stays tall on backside and utilizes lower half well. Releases from a three-quarters arm slot that produces solid life on fastball offering. Fastball ranged in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 mph. Slider had 9/4 shape with good sweeping action and depth. Develops break early at times when hand get on outside of pitch early. Consistently pounding the bottom of the strike zone with the ability to reach the edges of the plate at times. Good student as well.
