Connor Watrous is a 2017 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Wilmette, IL who attends North Shore Country Day. Medium- large frame, slender build. Projects to fill. Exclusively works from stretch on 1B side of rubber with a closed set. High energy delivery. Showed consistent 3/4 arm slot, drops arm slot at times. Pounds the zone with all pitches and hides ball well on delievery creating some deception for hitters. Fastball had some arm side life when delievered from the 3/4 arm slot and some cut life when arm angle dropped ranging from 69-74 mph, topped at 75 mph. Curveball showed a slurve 10/4 shape with some depth topping at 63 mph. Used a slider as 3rd pitch that flashed some harder tilit and depth, topped at 67 mph. Tendency to use curveball as primary off speed pitch. Solid pick off move to first and shows athleticism off the mound. Sligthly open crouched, spead stance at the plate. Maintains hip and eye level through contact from crouched position. Loads to a strong position and has some rhythm to swing. Showed a ground ball swing plane primarly working to pull side. Good funneling actions with the glove from the infield and showed some range to each side. Smooth through transition and release with accurate throws to bage. Topped at 75 mph across infield. Good student as well.
