Michael Castillo is a 2016 LHP/ with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Ballwin, MO who attends Marquette Sr.. Tall, lean frame with wiry strength. On the mound shows a short arm action form a 3/4 slot. Small side step delivery with a paced temp, repeats well. Creates good arm extension on release. Creates downhill angle with a 4-seam fastball that ranged from 76-80 mph. Loose arm action on curveball offering that shows 1/7 shape with some depth, topped at 64 mph. Flashed a straight chage up with deceptive arm actions that match fastball offering, topped at 69 mph. Works quickly and was consistently in the zone with all pitches. Shows a tendency to get around pitches at times and miss to glove side. Left handed hitter with open stance and high back elbow set. Extended swing plane with a bat path that produces some natural loft, looks to drive the ball into the gaps. Aggresive approach at the plate while contact occurs with weight on front side. Worked out defensively from the outfield. Long arm actions with a tendency to stop momentum, topped at 84 mph. More velocity left with mechanical refinement. Athletic actions throughout glove to hand transitions and shows smooth glove skills. Tools will continue to develop with future strength.
