Emilio Escobedo is a 2017 C/1B with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Poway, CA who attends Rancho Bernardo HS. Medium frame with a solid, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.89 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly high set while receiving. Flashes explosive footwork while gaining ground to the bag out of crouch. Clean exchanges while working through transition. Baseball came out of hand cleanly from a compact arm slot topping at 74 mph, best workout pop time of 2.01. Repeats mechanics well, generated accurate on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with balanced stance and leg lift trigger. Hands launch on a loose, extended path to contact creating a naturally lofted swing plane through extension. Has present strength at bat speed through finish when front side trigger is on time. Flashed good jump off the barrel to the pull side gap when turning barrel to contact. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and mechanical refinement. Very good student as well.
