Mateo Gil is a 2018 SS/RHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Keller, TX who attends Timber Creek HS. Long and lean athletic build, very projectable physically. 6.87 runner, polished defensive actions in the middle infield, smooth working through the ball, plays relaxed and composed and under control, makes accurate throws. Right handed hitter, balanced approach with an easy trigger and good sequencing in his swing, gap to gap hitter with future projection as he gets stronger. Two-way prospect, multi-piece delivery with a quick arm, some drop and drive. Fastball up to 92 mph, gets huge life on his fastball consistently, can pitch in the middle of the zone effectively due to his movement. Secondary pitches still developing, tends to drop slot on his curveball and change up. Son of former MLB player Benji Gil. Good student, verbal commitment to TCU.
