Tommy Erlin is a 5'9" 165 pound 2006 left handed pitcher and outfielder from Santa Cruz, California who attends Scotts Valley High School. He has a medium compact frame and is very broad with the projectability to fill out. He hits with a good sound approach at the plate and some present strength to hit the gaps. Tommy ran a 7.48 60 and touched 80 from the outfield which made him stand out form some others. He stands tall with a narrow base in the box and has some bat speed and the strength to handle the barrel of the bat well. Erlin made a very nice catch in the outfield by laying out on a diving catch showing he can close the gap on the fly ball well. He has a quick first step and shows better baseball speed than his 60 showed. On the mound, he has a compact delivery with good pure arm strength and high-energy towards the hitters. Tommy touched 80 mph on the mound with a 70 mph breaking ball. He has a quick arm and throws slightly across his body which causes some good deception for the hitters. He is not afraid to throw inside to hitters at all. His breaking ball is very tough lon left handed hitters. Tommy's out pitches are his fastball and his change up that he throws in the high 60's. He is very balanced and has an even tempo. Erlin is a good two way guy that will have an impact at the next level. He is also a good student with a 3.4 gpa and a 1730 on his SAT.
