Riley Ornido is a 2016 RHP with a 6-3 172 lb. frame from Morgan Hill, CA who attends Saint Francis HS. Tall and slender build, projects very well physically. High 3/4's to over the top arm slot, long and loose arm action, strides out to the plate aggressively with a high front side, repeats his mechanics very well, has deception in his delivery. Mid-80's fastball, mostly straight with occasional cutting action. Showed quality in both his change up and breaking ball. Change up has proper arm speed and nice sinking action. Curveball had nice two plane break when he got on top of it, will flatten out when he overthrows it for more of a slider look. Filled up the zone with all his pitches and had a very effective outing. Has present pitchability and should continue to keep improving. Good student.
