2005 South Underclass Showcase
Idleman is a 6-2, 155 lb junior outfielder from Texas with a tall, lean frame. He showed good speed at 7.20 for the 60 and threw 78 mph from the outfield during drills. He hits from a tall stance with a line drive swing plane and solid contact up the middle of the field. He will need to add some strength to develop his power potential but his hitting mechanics and fundamentals are there. Idleman did a good job of hitting during the games and showed he could handle the bat head well. Idleman also threw a couple of innings, showing a 77-80 mph fastball from a high 3/4 to over the top release point. He threw lots of strikes and had a fairly loose, easy arm action. Idleman threw mostly fastballs but also mixed in a soft downer 64 mph curveball and a 73 mph change up. Good follow who should improve on both sides of the ball.
