Austin Russ is a 2015 1B/3B/OF with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Valencia, CA who attends Hart HS. Outstanding athletic build, strong and projectable. Left handed hitter, big hand hitch load, very strong and quick hands, big stride into contact, loose extended swing with excellent raw bat speed, uppercut swing plane with lift and power. Hand hitch is an issue against velocity and will have to make adjustments at the next level but bat speed and hand quickness is very impressive. Stood out defensively at first base, has soft hands and very advanced footwork and balance. Good student, verbal commitment to Southern California.
