2016 Caribbean Underclass Showcase
Angel Guzman Del Rio is a 2018 C/SS with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Mayaguez, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Medium athletic build with the beginnings of some present strength in his lower half. Runs very well for a catcher, 6.70 in the sixty. Has compact actions behind the plate with simple and well coached mechanics, will rush his exchange occasionally but is pretty smooth in his release and has some arm strength. Also plays infield with third base actions, stays low to the ground well and has good hands but will need to quicken his release on the infield. Right handed hitter, tall open stance, big barrel wrap to start his swing, upper body rotational swing with a line drive swing plane, hits to all fields. Very good student.
