Ryan Morrissey is a 2017 C/RHP/3B with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Bettendorf, IA who attends Pleasant Valley. Medium frame, solid build with present strength. Right handed hitter with bent knee, balanced stance and high back elbow set. Quiet, balanced stride with rotational lower half actions while shifting to contact. Compact, line drive swing path with present bat speed to all fields. Mid field approach with solid extenstion through contact. Shows barrels skills to square ball to all fields. Worked out defensively from behind the plate as well as in the infield. From behind the plate shows mechanical footwork while gaining ground. low, compact arm circle and exchange. Throws downhill well with some carry to second. Compact arm action at release from a mid three quarters arm slot. Best pop time of 2.01. Soft hands while receiving with ability to frame pitches on the edges. From the infield shows compact footwork while surrounding the baseball with good range to both side. Accurate across the infield at 74 mph. Smooth glove actions while funneling that baseball with clean glove to hand exchanges. Good student. Tools will continue to improve with fluidity and strength.
