Evan Paras is a 2017 3B/RHP with a 5-10 220 lb. frame from Oxnard, CA who attends Oxnard HS. Medium frame with a solid build and some present strength. Ran a 8.33 sixty yard dash. Switch hitter with a balanced stance. Hands launch on a loose, extended path to contact creating a naturally leverage swing plane through extension from each side of the plate. Tends to show more bat speed with strength from the right side of the plate. Consistently created hard line drive contact from the ride side as well throughout batting practice. Squared last pitch very well depositing a deep home run. Stays balanced with good fluidity from each side but projects more as a right handed hitter at this time. Also pitched showing a short rock step to high leg kick delivery. Gathers well at balance point and stays tall on backside. Creates a slight pause at balance point as well but works with good rhythm and tempo. Strides towards the plate landing at slightly closed position on front side, creating some crossfire arm action. Releases from a low, extended three-quarters slot that generates some lift to the plate with downward angle. Generates some arm side run at times with a fastball that ranged in the mid 70's, topped at 76 mph. Curveball tight rotation with some depth and sweep down in the zone. Showed a good feel for curveball with the ability to throw for strikes in positive and negative counts. Consistently challenged the strike zone while working ahead of hitters early in the count. Good student as well.
