Hunter Rich is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Linwood, NJ who attends Mainland Reg. Large frame with long limbs and a strong, athletic build. Primary right handed pitcher with a rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather while creating coil over back leg. Utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to land at a slightly closed front side position generating some crossfire at release. Primarily released a high three-quarters to near over top arm slot producing good downhill angle through the zone. Fastball flashed occasional running action to arm side topping at 80 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with tight spin and late, hard depth in the upper 60's. Curveball proved to be deceptive hitter due to similar arm speed and slot as fastball. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while working through baseball and transfer. Long arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot topping at 84 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and high back elbow set. Utilized a simple front side trigger and rotational lower half. Loose path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed solid bat speed with some strength at contact when squared. Showed some barrel feel primarily working between the outfield gaps creating occasional back spin and carry. Outstanding student.
