Hayden Fails is a 2016 C/3B/RHP with a 5-11 172 lb. frame from Sweeny, TX who attends Sweeny HS. Medium athletic build, good present strength. Right handed hitter, big pull back load, long stride into contact, approach creates some length, aggressive swing with some strength at contact and late bat speed, looks to pull the ball, has hitting tools to continue to develop with adjustments. Good arm strength behind the plate, shows athleticism shifting and blocking, quick release with good footwork, 2.03 best pop time, can soften hands receiving the ball to take the next step forward defensively. Also plays third base, can throw from multiple slots with good accuracy and carry. Took a turn on the mound, fast paced delivery, high 3/4's arm slot, some effort at release. Fastball topped out at 82 mph with hard tailing action, tends to slow body and arm on soft curveball. Good student.
