Colson Lawrence is a 2020 SS/RHP, OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Hoover, AL who attends Hoover. Medium and lean frame with room to fill throughout. Ran an event best 6.62 second 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, developing actions with young hands out in front, loose arm taken into throws with average arm strength across the diamond, could utilize his lower half more into release for added arm strength, topped out at 82 mph from shortstop. Secondary righthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a high leg lift, takes arm back to a compact arm action up to an over the top arm slot, fastball topped out at 84 mph with varying life both cutting it and sinking it at times, mixed in a sharp curveball in the low-70s, works quickly on the mound. Also took reps in the outfield, shows some foot quickness fielding the baseball out in front with two hands, similar arm action as on the mound, has some arm strength and topped out at 87 mph from the outfield. Righthanded hitter, sets up with a wide base, begins swing with a small leg lift trigger, some lift present to his bat path, young barrel feel and strength at contact, will continue to improve with additional reps.
