Jason Katz is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Glendale, AZ who attends Sandra Day O'Connor HS. Large, square shouldered frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout body. Primary pitcher, works from an up-tempo delivery on the mound, moving parts create some deception, small side step going into delivery. Leg lift up past belt, short arm action with extension out front from side arm release point. Short stride, fastball topped out at 68 mph, showed some sink to arm side and cut action to glove side. Mixes in both a changeup at 62 mph and a breaking ball with sweeping life, able to get hitters off balance. Graded out higher as positional player this look, similar arm action at first base, fields out front and moves through ball well, hops off the bag, accurate throws. Righthanded hitter, starts with an even stance and small stride into contact. High hand set, shows ability to create extension out front, full swing with line drive plane to the ball. Shows a feel and control for the barrel, employs a middle and pull side of the field approach and able to execute.
