Gavin Sims is a 2016 3B/1B, OF, RHP, MIF with a 6-0 188 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends West Forsyth. Medium-large frame with good build and strength throughout body; still projects well physically. Gets through the ball well in swing, really brings lower half with authority by firing hips and generating torque, lofted swing with smoothness in stroke, has gap-to-gap power for the most part but can drive it out of the ballpark. Worked out defensively in the infield, showing good movement to the ball with clean fielding actions and solid footwork. IF velocity topped at 82 MPH with consistent accuracy across the diamond. Pitched as well, showing smooth mechanics into crossfire delivery, hides the ball well and creates deception. FB worked 77-81 and topped at 82 MPH with good downhill plane and solid life from extended three quarters arm slot. Mixed in firm CB with 10/5 shape, good depth and bite to go along with tight rotation. Named to 2015 Southeast Uncommitted Showcase Top Prospect List.
