2021 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 14)
Austin Stephenson is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-2 181 lb. frame from Columbus, GA who attends Pacelli. Recorded a 6.63 second sixty-yard dash time. Athletic frame with a high waist and lean muscle throughout. Primary shortstop with first step quickness, good lateral range to either side and smooth, fluid actions throughout the fielding process. Works downhill through the baseball, funneling cleanly out in front and recorded above average arm strength up to 91 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, wider base with a high, tight hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates a big leg lift trigger for timing and rotational lower half mechanics to get to contact. Displays compact bat speed, quickness to his hands and line drive impact to the pullside. Showed fairly consistent bat-to-ball skills and feel for the barrel throughout, flashing some raw power potential when on-time and in-sync. Will continue to improve with minor refinements of his swing. Excellent Student. Named to the 2021 WWBA Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
