Justin Katz is a 2016 OF/RHP with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Rancho Cucamonga, CA who attends Los Osos HS. Medium, athletic build with a lean, projectable build and room to fill out with added strength. Ran a 7.17 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, works through the ball well with footwork, shows quickness to arm action, hooked in back but gets on top of throws and shows strength and carry out of hand. Stays short with arm action in the infield, fields the ball out front, quick transfer, short and quick steps to the ball with arm strength across. Also pitched, short arm action with a tight release from high three-quarter arm slot. Smooth mechanics on the mound, repeats them well with good direction to the plate. Gets on top of fastball and generates downhill plane, topped at 75 mph with life down in zone. Curveball shows 11-5 shape with tight rotation and good depth. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and slightly open lower half. Loads hands back at start of swing with a small lower half shift of weight, sound approach with a line drive swing plane. Shows a bat speed through the zone and gets the barrel to ball, creates contact to the middle and opposite field well. Good student.
