Benjamin Worthan is a 2017 C/1B with a 5-11 176 lb. frame from Acworth, GA who attends Allatoona High School. Medium frame with athletic, solid present build; good projection remaining as well. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.49 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based stance with high hands in set, loads weight back onto backside, toe tap timing mechanism, shifts forward well into swing with hip torque and strength. Stays committed to the middle of the field through hitting approach, line drive swing plane, worked consistently back through the box on a line with good strength off the barrel and hand quickness, also showed ability to work to the opposite field when pitched away. Worked out defensively behind the plate. Higher set, receives cleanly with two hands and shows quick transfer, higher take back in arm stroke and releases next to ear, shows quality arm strength down to 2nd base bag up to 74 MPH with pop times as low as 1.96 seconds. Shows good athleticism at catcher position. Very good student.
