Matt Hill is a 2007 LHP with a 6'1'', 170 lb. frame from Lawrenceville GA, who attends Grayson HS. He has a live athletic body with good projection in the future. Hill throws from a quick, compact delivery with good balance and direction to the plate. His arm works well and he gets good extension out front, along with doing a nice job of repeating his release point. Hill's fastball topped out at 82 mph and was straight when he threw his 4-seamer. Hill threw a cut fastball/slider anywhere from 76 to 82 mph that was a nice pitch for him, especially when he varied the speed and break. His 66 mph curveball did not have as good of spin and was more of a get me over type of pitch. Hill would occasionally let up on his fastball a bit for a 75-77 mph change up. He showed good athletic ability on the mound, fielded his position and had a good pick off move. Coupled with his ability to throw strikes with all his pitches and mix things up, Hill is doing everything possible to get outs and win games. His athletic ability and loose arm indicate that he could have a bit more velocity in his arm and might already throw a bit harder. Getting stronger and improving his curveball are two important areas for him. .
