Justin Williams is a 2017 MIF/3B/RHP with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Christ The King HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary middle infielder with quick, athletic footwork while ranging for and working through the baseball. Polished glove actions while funneling out front and working through backhand. Works through exchanges quickly and released from a high energy, compact arm slot. Generated on line carry across the infield with developing accuracy to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Hands stay compact at load and launch on a direct path that generated a line drive plane through extension. Primarily worked between the outfield gaps but flashed the barrel control to work the baseball to all fields as well. Also pitched showing a quick, short rock step to high leg lift delivery. Gathers well at balance and stays tall on back side with slight pause at top. Keeps weight back well and utilizes lower half while driving in line with the plate. Gained good ground with stride and worked through extension out front. Quick, compact three-quarters arm slot at release that created good life through the zone with a fastball that produced some downward plane, topped at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had sharp 10/5 shape with good depth. Maintained arm speed well with curveball offering proving to be very deceptive to hitter. Consistently filled the strike zone and aggressively challenged hitters. Graded higher as a pitching prospect at this event. Good student as well.
