AJ Hacker is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Morehead, KY who attends Rowan County Senior. Large frame with a solid build and present lower half strength. Ran a 8.00 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, works with good rhythm and tempo with a short rock step into a waist high leg kick. Uses lower half well and carries momentum toward the plate. Creates good on line direction to the plate through finish. Foot lands in line with the plate with the ability to clear hips easily while rotating. Compact arm circle in back and releases from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Develops some downhill plane with fastball offering topping at 80 mph. Fastball has good running life with heavy actions to the plate. Curveball has 10/5 shape with tight rotation and sharp depth. Challenges the strike zone with both pitches and can work to each edge of the plate. Kept hitter off balance well producing soft contact. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean glove actions and quick exchanges. Quick feet with pivoting to throw to second base. Throws from a compact arm action topping at 75 mph. Throws created good on line carry across the infield with accuracy. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Shows a simple, linear shift into contact. Flashed the ability to turn the barrel to pull side generating occasional hard contact. Connect out front with the intent to drive the baseball into the gap. Flashed good barrel skills when working the baseball back up the middle of the field. Very good student as well.
